Don has a diverse work background that includes assignments in staffing and development, line operations management, business development and P&L leadership. Prior to forming Talent Effects, Inc. in 2003 (www.talenteffects.com), he worked with two global consulting firms where he supported clients with coaching and training facilitation to enhance how they effectively interview, assess, select and develop talent. Don’s work employed an interview and assessment model, based on the book The Evaluation Interview, widely recognized as a benchmark for top tier leader academy organizations such as GE, Citibank and Allied Signal (Honeywell).

Since founding Talent Effects, Don has continued to focus on working with client organizations of all sizes in the area of talent assessment and development including building talent acquisition processes, supporting executives by interviewing and assessing candidates for key positions or as part of post acquisition workforce integration, and conducting multi rater feedback and executive coaching. In all situations, Don takes a practical approach to developing solutions for lasting effect.

Don works with organizations to help them increase their effectiveness in selecting, developing and advancing leadership talent. He leverages a diverse background that spans human resources management, line operations management in healthcare services, account management, as well as P&L responsibility, to bring practical solutions that fit the context, culture, leadership approach, and resources of the organization.

He has over 15 years experience coaching professionals and executives from a variety of fields and industries in pivotal career situations including: assimilating quickly into a new leadership role, working through strengths and development needs in a current role as well as for future growth, and managing personal and organizational transitions. Don has coached hundreds of line managers, executives, and human resources professionals in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa in developing assessment skills for selecting and developing top talent.

Don holds an MBA from Georgia State University and a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Lafayette College. He is an adjunct instructor of Talent Acquisition, Development and Retention for the Executive MBA Program at Coles College of Business, Kennesaw State University, where he is also a member of the Advisory Board for Executive Programs.

Recent experiences include:

  • Working with a mid-sized firm CEO to develop CFO position requirements and conduct comprehensive tandem interviews with four finalist candidates.
  • Providing executive coaching programs to four executives at a Fortune 500 firm as part of a succession planning process to accelerate their readiness to assume new opportunities.
  • Conducting interview based assessments to profile senior managers of recently acquired firm so as to speed integration by quickly identifying retention risks, high potentials, and best fit roles.
  • Facilitating an interview and assessment skills training intensive for members of a global HR team to enhance their skills sets in selecting talent and supporting talent review initiatives.
