ne of our core values is capacity building – creating in our clients the skills needed to sustain change. To do this we have developed several workshops that we offer both in-house and by subscription.

Effective Meetings

All too often meetings are called without clear purpose, last way too long, get sidetracked, and don't involve follow-up. The good news is: they don't have to be that way! Anyone can plan and conduct effective meetings.

There is an increasing need for effective, efficient and even enjoyable meetings. Leadership increasingly means using our interpersonal skills to get things done. That often involves helping teams work together, which leads to meetings.

Whether your group is gathering for its weekly staff meeting, teleconferencing from different corners of the world, or coming together for an annual off-site planning session, employ the same basic components and scale up or down accordingly.

In this half-day workshop, you'll learn those basic components and how to apply them appropriately to six different types of meetings. You'll look at the symptom of dysfunctional meetings and develop prescriptions for their cure.

Cost for the workshop is $175. This includes all materials and course instruction.

If meetings need to be improved across the board at your organization, we encourage you to consider engaging us to come to your organization and work with a group of up to 20 people, training them to plan and conduct effective meetings. Call Karen Wunderlin for a quote at 502.895.3689.

Advanced Models for Facilitation

A master-level workshop for those interested in taking their facilitation skills to the next level.

Effecting change within organizations is tough. Employing a facilitative approach creates participation, accelerates results, and ensures commitment. Adding new skills to your repertoire will increase your effectiveness. This workshop combines the best of what we've seen and done with very practical skills application. Through action learning, you will come away with new insights and new tools that can help you speed up the pace of change and improve the quality of work in your organization. Subsequent to the course, faculty will provide follow-up coaching and design support for a facilitation event.

For experienced facilitators, this workshop exposes you to the latest in facilitation practice. It also gives you hands-on experience with new and more advanced facilitation skills. You'll come away rejuvenated with ideas, skills, and tools that you can immediately put to use with groups.

This workshop is designed to increase your skills and effectiveness with groups. You'll learn how to:

  • Design sessions so that you dramatically improve their effectiveness
  • Increase your own self-awareness so that you operate more intentionally with your group
  • Apply change acceleration processes
  • Manage difficult conversations, difficult topics and difficult personalities
  • Effectively utilize "standards" that will help you and your group be more authentic
  • Help your groups grow developmentally and begin to manage their own processes
  • Be comfortable introducing new models for how groups can work together, selecting the one that is most appropriate for the work that needs to be done

Through lively discussion and learning, participants will experience the power of the latest in facilitation theory and practice.

STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR. A facilitator is an "agent of change" and role model for the group. One of the most powerful tools a facilitator can use is the ability to listen, intervene, and be authentic. By using "standards of behavior," a facilitator can help a group develop its capacity for obtaining goals and self-managing process work.

APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY. The use of this model creates positive, generative, sustainable change by identifying and expanding the "positive core" of issues. By actively searching for "what is working," creative solutions emerge with increased participation and understanding.

OPEN SPACE. This model can best be described as the "anti-facilitation facilitation process." Come learn how enabling meeting participants to define their own agenda, manage their own work, and set their own pace can create spectacular results.

Judy Futch and Karen Wunderlin, both master facilitators and master workshop leaders, teach the course.

Cost for the workshop is $1,895. Includes all materials, course instruction, and lunches. Enrollment is limited.

Coaching as a Leadership Skill

An action-learning workshop focusing on the art and practice of coaching others so that they perform at higher and higher levels.

Are you a referee? Or do you know how to actively coach and develop your people?

Becoming a masterful coach is a leadership skill that is becoming increasingly important as organizations look for ways to stay ahead in a highly competitive and quickly changing world. Today's managers must be able to inspire, motivate, and train employees so that they can perform to the best of their abilities. Today's leaders need this skill if they are to achieve the necessary results, and so that they can support their employees' growth into tomorrow's leaders.

This new workshop focuses on the art and practice of coaching. Extensive practice and videotape feedback are integrated with the latest coaching practices.

You'll learn how to apply the three foundational concepts that a coach can provide: assessment, challenge, and support. You'll also learn how to determine if the person you need to coach is open to change and is prepared to work hard. You come away with the skills needed to help your people perform to the very best of their abilities - and to constantly raise the mark for their performance.

This workshop is designed to increase your skills and effectiveness with groups. You'll learn how to:

  • Build trust in the coaching relationship
  • Deliver "tough" news effectively
  • Ask the right question at the right time
  • Support an individual in getting clear about goals
  • Actively listen in collaborative conversations
  • Offer feedback that is constructive and productive
  • Match your coaching style to an employee's needs
  • Improve your own "emotional intelligence" and help the individual you are coaching to do the same

Kathleen McSweeney and Karen Wunderlin, both executive coaches and master workshop leaders, teach the course.

Cost for the workshop is $1,095. Includes all materials, course instruction, and lunches. Enrollment is limited.

For more information on the workshop, contact The Wunderlin Company: 502.895.3689 or e-mail us at kw@wunderlin.com. To learn more about The Wunderlin Company, visit our web site: www.wunderlin.com.

K’nections™
From its understanding of how adults learn best, The Wunderlin Company has developed a highly successful simulation that creates change by allowing participants to internalize the lessons of effective cross-functional team decision-making. The simulation, called K’nections™, is based on the theory that teams who practice the decision-making and team skills they face everyday at work are far more likely to succeed in the real business world. The day-long simulation is filled with lots of "aha's" as teams “get it with K'nections™.”

To schedule an in-house class for up to 16 of your employees, email kw@wunderlin.com or call us at 502.895.3689.

Discover Your Strengths and Put Them to Work
Based on Marcus Buckingham's and Donald O. Clifton's book of the same title, this workshop is designed for to help individuals identify their talents, build them into strengths, and enjoy consistently, excellent performance. Prior to the session, all participants will take the StrengthFinder Profile to discover their relative strengths from among 34 dominant themes with thousands of possible combinations. Once you know your dominant themes, we'll help you understand how to leverage them for powerful results.

This workshop is designed to help you answer these questions:

  • What does a strong life look like?
  • What do I need to build my life around my strengths?
  • Which aspects of me can I change?
  • Which aspects of me are enduring?
  • What are my strengths?
  • How can I best manage to other people's strengths?
  • How can I help build a strengths-based organization?

If your organization could benefit from turning talents into strengths (and which one couldn't!) we encourage you to consider engaging us to come to your organization and work with a group of up to 20 people, teaching them to turn their strengths into results - both on a personal development level and for the success of your organization.

This workshop is offered by private subscription only. We will work with you to customize the length and topics to address the specific needs of your work group or team. For more information, Please email us at: info@wunderlin.com or give us a call at 502.895.3689.
