All too often meetings are called without clear purpose, last way too long, get sidetracked, and don't involve follow-up. The good news is: they don't have to be that way! Anyone can plan and conduct effective meetings. There is an increasing need for effective, efficient and even enjoyable meetings. Leadership increasingly means using our interpersonal skills to get things done. That often involves helping teams work together, which leads to meetings. Whether your group is gathering for its weekly staff meeting, teleconferencing from different corners of the world, or coming together for an annual off-site planning session, employ the same basic components and scale up or down accordingly. In this half-day workshop, you'll learn those basic components and how to apply them appropriately to six different types of meetings. You'll look at the symptom of dysfunctional meetings and develop prescriptions for their cure. Cost for the workshop is $175. This includes all materials and course instruction. If meetings need to be improved across the board at your organization, we encourage you to consider engaging us to come to your organization and work with a group of up to 20 people, training them to plan and conduct effective meetings. Through lively discussion and learning, participants will experience the power of the latest in facilitation theory and practice. STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR. A facilitator is an "agent of change" and role model for the group. One of the most powerful tools a facilitator can use is the ability to listen, intervene, and be authentic. By using "standards of behavior," a facilitator can help a group develop its capacity for obtaining goals and self-managing process work. APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY. The use of this model creates positive, generative, sustainable change by identifying and expanding the "positive core" of issues. By actively searching for "what is working," creative solutions emerge with increased participation and understanding. OPEN SPACE. This model can best be described as the "anti-facilitation facilitation process." Come learn how enabling meeting participants to define their own agenda, manage their own work, and set their own pace can create spectacular results.
